A truly unique piece. When I first saw it, it struck me that the figure holding the heart was quite cute, but creepy at the same time. It looks as if its searching for some source of love, but the heart is wilting in its presence. The technique of the medium is well used, and the shading is stupendous. This was a very original piece, and it makes me wonder what inspired it. Before I wrote this critique I spent a few minutes just looking at it. It was very intriguing. Overall I love this piece, and I'm glad I got to critique it.

Hauntingly beautiful and unmistakably eerie, "Jealous Love" provides us all with an aesthetically pleasing visual for an emotion we are all very familiar with. This image of some dark creature, clinging jealously and selfishly to a heart, reminds us all of the little ways we hold on to things that are ours.
When I first saw it, this piece gave me the chills. The colors and texture are grand and mysterious, lending the piece an amazing feeling. Possibly the exact feeling the artist was intending to convey. The little drops of blood in one, very small part of the picture, are hardly noticeable but add a final touch to the picture that it would be totally incomplete without. The tendrils at the bottom of the creature suggest rooting of some sort, looking like a plant but perhaps symbolizing some infection or disease.
Overall a gorgeous picture with a strong message.
